LAW-6888 SEA PIRACY
This course will introduce students to the different legal regimes dealing with the issues of modern-day piracy and other maritime crimes. The focus of the course will be on the international law of the sea as well as United States law and the laws of other countries, which apply to maritime crimes. This course will study crimes at sea (e.g., sea piracy (heavy emphasis); jurisdiction (courts); human trafficking; refugees at sea; murder and other crimes committed on board ship; enforcement; terrorism; environmental crimes at sea (toxic wastes and pollution)); and maritime security issues.
