LAW-6195 ELECTION LAW
This course examines the practice of democracy throughout the United States. We will read several of the major Supreme Court cases related to the development of the right to vote under the U.S. Constitution, including: ballot access, election administration, apportionment, gerrymandering, minority vote dilution, the regulation of political parties, campaign finance, and remedies. We will also examine the role that federal and state laws have in shaping the design of state electoral systems, particularly after Bush v. Gore. Prerequisite: Constitutional Law
