LAW-6152 EMPLOYMENT LAW

This course provides an overview of the employment relationship in the United States. The course surveys federal and state laws governing the employment relationship. The course examines the formation, duration, and termination of the employment relationship. Topics covered are employer and employee relationship; independent contractor; employment at will; employment contracts; employment manuals; wrongful discharge; employee free speech; employee privacy rights; drug testing in the workplace; employment background screening; employer torts; employee duty of loyalty; noncompetition clauses; restrictive covenants; employee inventions; employment discrimination; labor law; unemployment insurance; employee benefits; workers compensation; workplace safety and health; and employment remedies.
