LAW-6197 JUVENILE DEFENSE CLINIC

The Juvenile Defense Clinic is a six-hour graded course that provides hands-on legal experience for students under the supervision of the clinic supervisor who is a licensed attorney. Students will act attorneys for youth charged with misdemeanors and felonies as in the Juvenile Division of Orange County Circuit Court. Students will provide holistic representation to their clients, including advocacy in the areas of education, mental health, trauma, substance abuse and dependency. Students will conduct detention hearings, arraignments, plea hearings, motion hearings, trials, disposition hearings, take depositions, research and draft motions, work directly with clients and their families and any other tasks as assigned by the supervising attorney.
