LAW-6214 CLIMATE CHANGE SEMINAR

This 2-credit seminar examines the law and policy surrounding climate change -- an issue that many regard as the most significant environmental issue facing our world today. By engaging in a critical analysis of the key cases that have filtered their way through the U.S. court system (including several decided by the U.S. Supreme Court) and investigating the specific measures that are underway on the local, state, federal, and international level, students evaluate emerging legal, policy, and management responses to climate change. In addition, because climate change litigation involves cutting-edge administrative and constitutional law issues, including judicial review, deference, federalism, preemption, separation of powers, and standing, the seminar also explores the overlap with these other legal fields.
