EMS-2602L PARAMEDIC 2 LAB
EMS 2602L Is a continuation of advanced life support practice. Areas of emphasis include patient assessment, trauma emergencies, obstetric emergencies, gynecological emergencies, pediatric emergencies, and psychiatric emergencies. Students will be expected to master the techniques of patient assessment, intravenous techniques, endotracheal intubation, and advanced life support. Laboratory exercises and evaluations emphasize patient assessment, medical skills and treatment strategies, ECG equipment and interpretation, cardiac therapeutic interventions, application of computer skills include mega-code scenarios, medical scenarios, ECG recognition, Advanced Cardiac Life Support resuscitative care, obstetrical and neonatal management, pediatric airway management and ventilation, intravenous and intra-osseous therapy, medication administration, and advanced vascular devices used in home health and assessment based management and operations. The curriculum is based on Modules 5- 8 of the DOT National Standard Curriculum for National EMS Standards. Prerequisites: For students to qualify academically for EMS2601, they must have successfully completed a nationally approved/accredited Emergency Medical Technician program prior to applying. Co-Requisites: EMS2602, EMS2668.
