Student and Family Engagement

The Student and Family Engagement department at Barry University is dedicated to fostering a vibrant and inclusive campus community through meaningful student programs, leadership development, and family connections. Our team supports students throughout their Barry journey- from their first day on campus to graduation and beyond- by creating opportunities for involvement, personal growth, and community-building.

We oversee a range of key initiatives, including:

  • New Student Orientation – Welcoming and transitioning new students and their families into the Barry community.

  • Leadership Development – Offering programs such as the Emerging Leaders Program (ELP), Leadership Quest, and leadership workshops to cultivate student leadership skills.

  • Campus Activities and Events – Collaborating with student organizations and campus partners to host engaging events, including Week of Welcome, Homecoming, Community Fest and Spring Fling.

  • Student Councils – Advising the Student Government Association (SGA), Campus Activities Board (CAB), Commuter Student Council (CSC), and Student Organizations Council (SOC) to ensure robust student representation and involvement.

  • Parent and Family Engagement – Keeping families connected to their students’ Barry experience through Family Orientation, newsletters, and dedicated events.

The department also provides resources and advising to support student-led organizations and commuter students, encouraging them to thrive both in and outside the classroom.
