LAW-6771 PRI ENVIRONMENTAL DISPUTE RESOLUTION
This course is focused on the development of skills used by lawyers to transform adversarial interactions into collaborative processes. The course includes several simulated negotiations, mediations and other consensus-building exercises to developMarch 4 2019 12:16 PM Julie Hagaman the skills used by successful lawyers. It includes readings and discussions about the range of dispute resolution processes, with a focus on those used in environmental disputes as well as some background on the nature of envirnmental disputes. Students learn about the role of legal advisors for parties, to create and maintain a problem-solving climate, as well as some methods for communicating with clients about their alternatives. It also includes consideration of a number of factors, in addition to the law, that are involved in resolving envirnmental and other complex disputes.
