LAW-6201 IN HOUSE CLINIC

This will be our first in-house clinic. An in- house clinic is a law firm we run out of the Law School. Enrollment will be limited to six students and will be selected after submission of an application for enrollment. Students must have completed four semesters and forty eight hours to participate in this course. Required courses are Advanced Legal Writing, Evidence and Family Law. Recommended courses prior to taking this course will include Florida Juvenile Trial Advocacy, Professional Responsibility, Client Interviewing, Counseling and Problem Solving and Criminal Procedure. This course will be graded on the traditional A-F grading scale. Students will handle domestic violence matters on behalf of children in circuit court and possibly special education cases on behalf of children and their parents. Once we obtain ABA approval, we may expand the case load. The students will be the advocates for the clients under supervision of faculty members. The majority of the work will involve real cases for real people but there will also be a classroom component and a required orientation session.
