The BS/MS Accelerated Program
The Department of Psychology provides Barry University psychology majors with the opportunity to earn a combined Bachelor of Science Degree and an MS in Clinical Psychology. The Accelerated BS/MS Program allows students to complete both degrees within six years rather than the traditional seven-year period. Students complete undergraduate requirements in the first three years. The fourth year serves as the first year of the graduate program. Upon successful completion of the first 18 credits of graduate coursework, students are awarded the Bachelor of Science in Psychology. The MS degree is awarded upon completion of all graduate requirements in the MS Clinical Psychology Program. The accelerated program saves one year of undergraduate college expenses and provides an accelerated entry into the professional career. Students who opt out or fail out of the first year of the graduate program have the option to complete the regular BS degree.
Eligibility Requirements
- Completion of required University general education requirements and Psychology core curriculum.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Two letters of recommendation
- Submit an online application to the College of Health Professions and Medical Sciences (CHPMS) MS Clinical Psychology Program
- Completion of Developmental Psychology (PSY 283), Introduction to Psychopathology (PSY 314), Personality Theories (PSY 325) and Test & Measurements (PSY 320) at the time of application to the CHPMS -MS Clinical Psychology Program
Achieve 102 undergraduate credits including general education curriculum and Psychology core curriculum by the time the student starts their graduate coursework in the MS Clinical Psychology
The Accelerated 3+3 Program
The Department of Psychology and the Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law provide qualified psychology majors an opportunity to earn a combined Bachelor of Science Degree and a Juris Doctor Degree. The Accelerated 3+3 Program allows psychology majors to complete both an undergraduate psychology degree and a law degree within six years rather than in the traditional seven years. Qualified students would complete the core undergraduate requirements within the first three years of study. The fourth year of the undergraduate program would also be the first year of law school. After the satisfactory completion of the first year of law school, the student would officially receive a BS in Psychology. The JD would be awarded after the successful completion of all requirements of the law school. The accelerated program saves one year of college expenses and provides an accelerated entry into the professional career. Students who opt out or fail out of the first year of law school have the option to complete the regular BS degree.
Three-Year BS Accelerated Program in Psychology
The Three-year Accelerated Program allows students to complete their BS psychology degree in three years instead of four years. It typically requires 18 credits per semester with courses taken during the summer.
