Placement testing is offered through the Testing Center in the Center for Academic Success and Advising.  The Testing Center office is located in Garner 113 on the main campus and is managed by Dr. Olena Drozd. Placement testing is offered throughout the year to accommodate registration periods.  Appointments are required for placement testing and can be made through the website: www.barry.edu/CASA.  Study guides and test specifications are available on the website. For additional information please contact Dr. Olena Drozd at odrozd@barry.edu or in Garner Hall 113.

Course Placement

Students who need to take courses in English and Math will be placed in these classes according to their level of proficiency. In each area, proficiency is determined by SAT or ACT scores or by placement test results.  Refer to the Undergraduate Testing, Placement, and Advising Guide for details.

Transfer credits in English 111 and 112 or 210 are accepted to fulfill distribution requirements.

Chemistry Course Placement

All students wishing to take CHE 111 must take the chemistry placement test or have a grade of C or better in CHE 095.

The student’s placement will be based on the score on the exam:

If CHE placement score is 21 or higher, then CHE 111

If CHE placement score is 17‑20, then either CHE 111 or CHE 095 left to discretion of academic advisor

If CHE placement score is 16 or below, then CHE 095
