This foundation course introduces students to the basic processes of critical thinking as it applies to the assessment of research evidence, policy, and client systems.. Skills of critical appraisal and decision making within a biopsychosocial- spiritual and trauma-informed frameworks are practiced with special attention to culturally based sources of knowledge. The influences of racism and oppression on research, policy, and practice, as well as personal views and biases are evaluated in order to promote inclusion and equity on micro, mezzo, and macro levels.
