Emergency Management (B.S.)

The Bachelor of Science in Emergency Management is designed for current emergency management professionals, individuals interested in promotion in a related-field or those interested in entering the field. The program equips students with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for leadership roles within the public, private, nonprofit, and volunteer sectors. It also distinguishes between disaster mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery, along with prevention and protection when addressing homeland security mission areas. A focus on vulnerable groups in the United States and abroad, supports the BSEM's commitment to fulfill the Barry University mission of knowledge and truth, inclusive community, and social justice. Graduates of the BSEM program will be able to integrate knowledge and applied skills to the areas of homeland security, government and business continuity, hazard mitigation, and international disaster management. This integrative approach draws from the disciplines of Public Administration, Management, Health Sciences, Psychology, Sociology, and Criminal Justice.
