Overview

The Department of Information Technology (DoIT) provides information technology related services to Barry’s students, faculty and staff. Embedded within the Division of Strategic Initiatives & Digital Strategies, it centrally administers Barry’s information systems, communications infrastructure, information security, and end-user computing services & support to all of the university’s locations. Services

Instructional learning technology is provided and maintained in all classrooms throughout Barry University. Rooms are outfitted with multimedia projection equipment as well as hybrid equipment to facilitate FlexLearning course delivery. DoIT supports distance education and the enablement of a location-agnostic workstyle by providing videoconferencing platforms, live streaming services, remote support, and recording of courses/meetings.

DoIT provides an online virtualized platform at https://go.barry.edu. This portal delivers anytime-anywhere access to many applications such as the Microsoft Office suite and other commonly used applications to all members of the Barry community. With an internet-connected device, Library resources and other intranet sites - normally only accessible if physically on campus - are made available through this portal.

 

Educational pricing is extended to those in the Barry community interested in purchasing personally owned PCs, peripherals, and software applications such as Adobe products and SPSS.

 

Walk-in support is located on the main campus and is available to all members of the Barry community. The IT Support Desk is physically staffed during normal business hours but offers several ways to be contacted 24x7x365.

DoIT provides a range of technology resources that help bridge the divide between academic work and campus life.

  • Cloud printing stations allow users to initiate a print job from anywhere and order the document to be securely released (printed) at various locations around the main campus, Orlando Law campus, and residence halls.
  • Public access PCs at our campuses in Miami Shores and Orlando Law.
  • Program-specific computer labs such as Honors, Fine Arts and Social Work.
  • Laptops for checkout from automated kiosks can facilitate students’ ability to work anywhere they feel most comfortable.
  • Wireless coverage in all residence halls, administrative buildings, and many of the outside high-traffic areas where students are likely to convene.
