Campus Safety and Emergency Management

The Campus Safety Department (CSD) at Barry University is committed to working with the community to facilitate the development and maintenance of a safe environment and to support the continued evolution of the Barry University Mission.

A safe campus is everyone’s responsibility. Do your part to protect yourself and others. Increased awareness by all of us can help prevent crime and keep our community safe. Crime prevention and awareness is not the sole responsibility of the Campus Safety department. It is a joint venture with the community which it serves. The Campus Safety department provides information, assistance, and service to aid campus occupants in the prevention and response process.

Barry University has an around the clock security presence under contract with Allied Universal Security Services. AUS personnel operate under the direction of the University’s Director of Campus Safety. This highly trained group of Campus Safety officers promotes a safe and secure learning environment for all students, faculty, staff, and visitors through positive engagement and collaborative enforcement. Campus Safety officers are Dispatched through an on-campus Command Center and are equipped with handheld radios and Heliaus devices.

The Campus Safety department utilizes numerous officers to conduct constant foot and vehicle patrols throughout the campus for the purpose of providing assistance, to deter and detect potential crimes or threats, and to respond to any emergency calls or requests for service anywhere on campus.

Additional Campus Safety personnel are provided for all University functions including athletic competition, social events, and other special activities as required.

Timely Warnings

In the event a serious situation arises, which constitutes a potential, ongoing or continuing threat, either on campus or nearby, a campus wide “timely warning” is issued by Campus Safety. The warning will be issued to all registered students, faculty, and staff.

If you would like to report an incident or suspicious activity, the Rave “Guardian” app   is a confidential and anonymous way of providing information to Barry University Campus Safety. You may download the Guardian app from the App Store or Google play.
