HED-701 INTERNATIONALIZATION HIGHER EDUCATION

This course will introduce students to how the impact of globalization and the integrated world economy has influenced the internationalization of higher education as evidenced by strategic agendas on the part of universities. As such, the course will explore topics within the context of different countries and specific institutions in their attempt to respond to internationalization. The topics include but are not limited to the following: alternative institutional models; programmatic and curriculum development efforts; the identification of barriers--including colonial epistemologies-and subsequent reforms for elimination of these; obtaining funding and/or resources; implementing organizational change; and the framing of policies for displaced refugee students within the context of student services across institutions.
