BIO-307 BIOLOGY OF CRIME

This is a survey course which emphasizes the use of modern scientific procedures to supply biological information and evidence used in criminal investigations. These methods will be discussed in class and the methods applied in the laboratory. The concepts include: DNA fingerprinting , ABO blood grouping, blood spatter pattern analysis, forensic anthropology, hair and fiber analysis, forensic toxicology, forensic entomology, arson, bioterrorism and other methodologies used in forensic investigations. Pre-requisites: 3 hours of college level math, Junior or Senior status, and/or permission from the instructor.2 hours lecture, 2 hours laboratory weekly. Credits do not count toward Biology major.(Fall, Spring, Summer)
