SW-563 MODELS CLINICAL SW PRACTICE

This foundation course introduces students to theoretical models of social work practice with individuals, families, and groups in contemporary practice settings. The course emphasizes the use of theory to conceptualize human behavior and identify appropriate and effective strategies for intervention, all within a trauma-informed framework. Students will become familiar with theoretical concepts and associated interventions utilized in micro and mezzo levels of social work practice. Students will learn to make effective practice decisions regarding the selection and implementation of various trauma-informed interventions for a range of client problems and populations. (3 credits) Prerequisites: SW 503, SW 519, SW 550, SW 546 and SW 537. Co-requisites: SW 547, SW 539, SW 569 and SW 577
