Surveys the roles and responsibilities of the mental health counselor, including ethical, legal, organizational, professional, and research considerations. Offers training in counseling program development to expand the depth of knowledge of clinical mental health counselors' roles, functions and responsibilities. Offers advanced training in clinical mental health counseling skills and documentation practices that prepares students to conduct comprehensive intake evaluations, assessments and develop clinical treatment plans. Offers advanced training in client case conceptualization. Prepares students to address special issues in clinical mental health counseling. Briefly examines the history, philosophy and theoretical components of clinical mental health counseling and professional identity within clinical mental health counseling.
